OWNERSHIP AS STEWARDSHIP
Owning a JDV Beauceron is not simply about acquiring a puppy. It is about participating in the responsibility of breed preservation.
Prospective owners are expected to support this goal through:
Pursuing AKC conformation and performance titles
Completing health testing appropriate to the breed, including hips, elbows, eyes, and cardiac evaluation
Maintaining open communication and providing high-quality documentation of the dog’s development
Preserving breeding potential in select males and females when requested
These expectations are not optional additions; they are foundational to the program.
A LIMITED PROGRAM
JDV Beauceron produces a small number of litters and does not maintain a standing inventory of puppies.
Interest regularly exceeds availability. As a result, prospective owners are evaluated carefully, and only those who demonstrate a genuine commitment to preservation and responsible stewardship are considered.
This approach ensures that each dog is placed in an environment capable of supporting its long-term development and contribution to the breed.
PLACEMENT PHILOSOPHY
JDV Beaucerons are not placed on a first-come basis.
Every placement is made with clear intent: to provide each dog with a life of purpose, enrichment, and fulfillment; to meaningfully enhance the quality of life of the owner; and to protect and promote the Beauceron breed through responsible stewardship.
We seek homes that view ownership as an active, evolving relationship. One that supports the dog’s working ability, emotional well-being, and need for engagement.
Placement is limited to individuals who recognize their role as ambassadors for the breed and who are committed to thoughtful training, ethical ownership, and positive representation within the broader community.
All decisions are guided by long-term success and shared purpose, never by urgency or convenience.
